'Art of War:' Less Art, More War.
"Art of War" is not a bad movie. The problem though is that there is little art to it. Wesley Snipes stars along with Donald Sutherland, Anne Archer and Michael Biehn in a slick political thriller. The movie delivers a very subdued feeling. You go in looking for heavy action and get a nice calm mystery with some good twists. Snipes is becoming quite the martial arts specialist and he pulls off the action hero role very well in the few fight scenes and chases. The movie seems like a mix between "The Saint" and a James Bond film. Snipes plays a secret agent who, of course "doesn't exist" and does things that "don't happen". After the assassination of a world leader, a chase ensues and he ends up at the wrong place at the wrong time. After an escape, he is on the run and on his way to find the truth. There are double crosses galore and you see some coming but others are truly out of the blue. The acting is solid even though the writing hits some dead spots. All in all it was not a complete waste of time and for Wesley Snipes fans it is worth it.
