"Evolution"

By Ted Pfeifer

My review of "Evolution" consists of one word...FUN.

Ivan Reitman has put together a fun movie, as with "Ghostbusters" Reitman has taken some good actors and combined them to get great performances. David Duchovny fresh off ending his run of Fox Mulder in "The X-Files" is once again fighting aliens, but this time it's more fun. He has Orlando Jones as his sidekick and Jones is going to be a huge star, he has more range than Chris Tucker and just needs that one break out role. Seann William Scott of "American Pie" and "Road Trip" fame also is part of the gang of misfits. Added to the mix is Julianne Moore as a specialist from the CDC.

The premise of the movie is that of a meteor slamming into the Earth and the life forms on it begin to evolve at a super fast rate, what took us billions of years is taking these aliens a matted of hours.

The military of course wants to just blow the aliens to kingdom come and of course it doesn't work and so our band of heroes must work together to save the day.

Duchovny and Jones have great chemistry, Scott and Moore also do good work, but in the end the movie is about one thing. Having fun. It has plenty of laughs, great special effects and should not be overlooked at the theater. If it under performs at the box office it will over perform at video stores.
