"The Fast and the Furious"

By Ted Pfeifer

I liked it better the first time I saw it when it was called "Point Break".

Great Cars, Bad Acting, Bad Dialogue, Bad Editing, Bad Score all add up to Director Rob Cohen wasting a ton of Universal's money.

The only thing Furious about this movie is me because I will never get my hour and 45 minutes back.

"The Fast and the Furious" is about a young good looking undercover cop, who is trying to make it to detective, going incognito to infiltrate a "team" of street racers, because the feds believe a group of these racers are hijacking semi's full of DVD players and other electronics.

The movie has all the makings of a grand summer blockbuster but fails in every way. The movie starts off with a hijacking that would have been great if it was edited with a slower hand, it also has music going that doesn't fit the scene.

Paul Walker plays the undercover cop who like Keanu Reeves in "Point Break" is another pretty face with a good body and bad acting skills. Vin Diesel plays the bad guy/good guy role that Patrick Swayze had and pulls it off OK. He is an actor with screen presence but is wasted in this film.

Universal better hope it gets a good opening weekend because word of mouth will kill this movie.

The 1 hour and 45 minutes seemed longer than "Pearl Harbor".
