"From
Hell"

The
Hughes brothers have delivered a stunningly wonderful
film.
Johnny Depp has delivered another standout performance.
And Jack the Ripper has returned "FROM HELL".
Allen and Albert Hughes have once again proved that
they are directors to be reckoned with. Their new
take on the story of Jack the Ripper is an amazing
piece of work. The visuals are incredible and they
show just enough to get your imagination going. Don't
get me wrong, there are some very gruesome scenes
but they are done without going overboard.
Johnny Depp slips into the 1800's and carries an accent.
This is the perfect companion piece to "Sleepy Hollow".
Depp plays an investigator that has visions, these
visions help him solve crimes. We also find out that
he has an addiction to opium that just may play a
role in his visions. The Ripper is wreaking havoc
in the streets of England as prostitutes are being
sliced and diced. Depp is called in to solve the crime
and put an end to the madness.
The thing that makes this film work is that we all
know Jack the Ripper gets away, so the entire time
you are trying to guess how the movie will end. The
Hughes also give you a number of people who may or
may not be the Ripper. This film is a history lesson
of facts and theories.
Depp's performance is brilliant along with strong
work turned in by Heather Graham. Robbie Coltrane
and Ian Holm also co-star and keep the film moving.
"From Hell" is a fantastic movie that stays ahead
of you and has darkness lurking around every corner.
The film is a piece that everyone involved can be
proud of as it is an astounding thriller with chills
to boot.
