"How The Grinch Stole Christmas" Lay Down Some Green to See This One.

By Ted Pfeifer

Jim Carrey nails another character on the nose. just like Carrey was Andy Kaufman in "Man on the Moon" Carrey is the Grinch. He oozes grinchiness and delivers a smashing performance. "The Grinch" is not the same old Grinch that we all know and love. This movies takes the story of "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" and adds layers on top.

In the original we learn that the Grinch has a heart that is too small and we see how he steals Christmas and then changes his ways. In the new version that part is the third act of the film and we spend the first third finding out how this all came about. The sets are amazing as is the makeup and of course Jim Carrey's acting steals not Christmas but the movie.

I will warn you though that not all is right in Whoville, the movie does get slow during the middle and little kids may get restless, if you can make it through that then you will enjoy the film. This movie is definitely worth seeing and I cannot say enough about Carrey's performance. He will probably be competing against himself for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor an award he has won two years in a row for "The Truman Show" and "Man on the Moon".

After those two films and now "Me, Myself and Irene" in which he played two people and now "The Grinch", I wonder when the Academy is going to see the light and understand what a talent he is. Lay down your greenbacks to see a greenback.
