"Meet The Parents" Bring Yours.

By Ted Pfeifer

"Meet the Parents" is one of the funniest films I have seen in a long time. And when I say funny, I mean truly funny.

This is brought to you by Jay Roach the director of "Austin Powers". And the thing that struck me most is that in this day and age of comedies "American Pie", "Road Trip", "Me, Myself and Irene" and "There's Something About Mary", "Meet the Parents" does not need gross-out humor or over the top sex jokes to make it funny or keep it going. It uses, get this, talented actors to get by.

Ben Stiller stars as a guy in love looking to get engaged to his girlfriend, the only problem is that he finds out that he needs to first ask her father for permission. Now you say what's the problem, well her father is played by Robert De Niro. De Niro shines as the protective dad who plays off of his reputation as the dirty, mean and nasty guy in charge. At times it becomes uncomfortable to watch because you feel for Stiller's character and you don't want to see him go through any more, although when he does you don't feel guilty laughing. The chemistry between the two is perfect and the remainder of the cast plays their parts right on cue as well. The cast includes Teri Polo as Stillers girl, Blythe Danner as the future mother in law and giving a fantastic performance is Owen Wilson as the Polo's old boyfriend.

You must see this movie. Every scene adds to the one before it, it doesn't have any slow down and lose sight of what it is. "Meet the Parents" delivers a great time and finally a movie that is worth spending the money for.
