In 88 minutes director Barry Sonnenfeld has delivered a no-nonsense sequel to the 1997 smash.

Nothing really happens in the film that would make you sit back and think to yourself that you have just witnessed a great movie. In fact, nothing really happens at all. That to me is what made the movie so enjoyable to watch.

Will Smith returns as Agent J and he is now the veteran of sorts and the most respected man in black. When the serpent like alien Serleena, played by Lara Flynn Boyle, comes to earth to collect a special light only one man has the key to stopping her.

That one man is Agent K, who is once again played by Tommy Lee Jones. Agent K has been working as a postal worker for the last five years and doesn't show up in the film until about the 25 minute mark.

We then get to watch Agent J and K visit some of the cast of characters from the first and try to save the planet.

That in a nutshell tells you the whole story. Not much there.

The acting is fine and the special effects are top notch but I believe the major kudos should go to director Sonnenfeld. Sonnenfeld did not waste one second of film. In the current state of films you get yourself into the theater and know that you have 2 hours to go. But Sonnenfeld had 88 minutes of material and put 88 minutes on film, he didn't need anymore and either did I as a viewer.

It was also nice to have this break in the summer where we kicked it off with the power of "Spider-Man" and "Attack of the Clones" and before we get to "Road to Perdition" among others.

"Men in Black 2" gives us what we need, a fun and relaxing 88 minutes.
