"Mission To Mars " You might as well go yourself.

You could take a trip to Mars and back in the time that it takes this movie to get to its point. "Mission To Mars" takes a good cast and a fine director and wastes them all.
Gary Sinise, Tim Robbins, and Don Cheadle try to make something out of a bad script but it just doesn't happen. Brian DePalma who was trying to make an epic like 2001 fails at almost every turn. The special effects are weak and the pacing is very slow. Now there are people out there that I have talked to that enjoyed the movie but the overwhelming response has not been good.
If you have some time to kill and like the actors then you should rent it, but do not expect a fast moving action picture. A few years back there were the battling Asteroid flicks, "Deep Impact" and "Armageddon". This is the "Deep Impact" to the soon to be released "Red Planet" which stars Val Kilmer and should be in theaters soon. "Deep Impact" was a slow drama type and "Armageddon" was full action. Expect the same from "Mission to Mars" and "Red Planet".
