"The Mummy Returns"

By Ted Pfeifer

The Summer Movie Season begins on May 4th with the release of the sequel to "The Mummy"

"The Mummy Returns" with more action, power and laughs than the first. You quite possibly will not have more fun at any other movie this year.

Brendan Fraser is back along with Rachael Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo and Oded Fehr. They welcome in pro wrestlings The Rock as the Scorpion King.

"The Mummy Returns" is better than the original in many ways. As with the first movie, this one combines cornball antics and the telling of ancient stories to set the mood, the film is beautiful to look at with great sets and special effects. The music is powerful when it needs to be and leads you through the story.

There is more action and fighting scenes in than the first and the scenes are also on a much grander scale. The movie also shows things that happened during the first movie but from different points of view. "The Mummy Returns" takes place 9 years after the first with Fraser and Weisz now married and with a child. Don't be afraid, the kid doesn't ruin the movie like usual when kids are added to a sequel, in this case it adds more fun and opportunities for the lead characters to grow.

Because we are familiar with the characters and the style of movie watching "The Mummy Returns" is about going to the movies and having a great time..
