"Rush Hour 2"

By Ted Pfeifer

There isn't much of a story but the movie is fun to watch.

Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan reprise their roles from the first "Rush Hour" and fit very comfortably in the skins of their characters. The movie is basically a vehicle form Tucker to mouth off and for Chan to kick off.

If you thought other films this summer were of the mindless kind then set your sights lower for this one. It may sound like I am bashing the film but I am doing no such thing. This movie is the perfect example of a studio, a director, writer and its stars knowing what they have and just going with it. No one was trying to make a film where come March they will be up on stage accepting an award, no they just wanted to make something that would make a bunch of scratch and make everyone happy.

If a huge opening weekend happens then we will all have to deal with Tucker high pitched voice for a long time to come. And Chan who gets more and more Americanized with each role seems to be having the greatest time of all. He has gone from being a huge star in Hong Kong to a huge star all over the world.

Well, back to the movie, the action is great the comedy works and the story is simple. But for the end of the summer that is just fine with me.

I enjoyed this one more than the first and hopefully the third will be even better, but who knows maybe someone involved will try to make the third have a meaning and will ruin the franchise. Keep it fun and the money will keep rolling in.
