"Swordfish"

By Ted Pfeifer

I'll get this out of the way right now...Yes Halle Berry gets naked.

Ok, let's move on. Last year Dominic Sena kicked off the summer with the thrill ride "Gone in 60 Seconds" which all though it was blasted by most critics, it went on to clear $100 Million. Expect the same out of "Swordfish".

Sena once again puts action first and story telling second, but he does have more of a story this time. John Travolta plays a rogue CIA agent trying to heist close to $9 Billion, but he needs a computer hacker to do it. So he enlists Hugh Jackman, one of the worlds top hackers, who just happens to have just gotten out of a 18 month stay in prison for hacking into the FBI database. Halle Berry plays Travolta's sidekick with a body to die for.

The film starts off with a monologue from Travolta which pokes some fun at his big bomb "Battlefield Earth", then it kicks into high gear with a heart-stopping explosion that by the time the scene was over had the audience applauding.

Don Cheadle, Vinnie Jones and Sam Shepard round out a fine cast that works well with the script it was given. There are some great twists and turns along the way.

All in all Travolta made a good choice in going back into bad guy mode as he did in "FACE/OFF" and "Broken Arrow". He should get a career resurgence by playing the bad guy again.

"Swordfish" tells us to Log On, Hack In, Go Anywhere and Steal Everything.
