"The Tailor of Panama"

By Ted Pfeifer

I have not read the book so I can't compare the two, but if the book is anything like the movie, I will enjoy reading it.

Pierce Brosnan the man known as Bond, James Bond plays another spy this time named Osnard, Andy Osnard. The difference is Bond is a great spy and Osnard is a not so great spy. After his latest blunder which included sleeping with the mistress of a high ranking official, he is banished off to Panama. While there he is instructed to keep an eye on the canal and make sure nothing fishy is going on.

Once there he meets up with Geoffrey Rush, who plays a tailor named Harry Pendel. Harry has a past, a past that he wants to keep hidden, his problem is that he also likes to make up his future.

Brosnan and Rush have great chemistry together and it is fun to see Pierce play a fun spy that doesn't rely on gadgets and gizmos but on humor and being sneaky.

There are plenty of twists and turns that keep the movie well paced along with some big laughs and tense moments. Jaime Lee Curtis plays the tailors wife who also happens to work at the Panama Canal.

The movie is based a the book by the same name written by John le Carre and is directed by John Boorman. With a tight story and fine direction "The Tailor of Panama" is worth getting suited up for..
