"Unbreakable" Are You?

By Ted Pfeifer

Powerful. Stunning. Suspenseful. Funny. Thrilling. Those are just some of the words that I use to describe M. Night Shyamalan's follow up to "The Sixth Sense".

Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson star in this mystifying film that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Shyamalan joins Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous and Jerry Maguire) and Paul Thomas Anderson (Magnolia and Boogie Nights) as a new generation of great directors who also write their own material. The one thing that will happen that is unfair is that people will compare "Unbreakable" to "The Sixth Sense". While "The Sixth Sense" was a great movie, "Unbreakable" is a very good movie.

Bruce Willis plays a man that is involved in a horrific train wreck, and is the only survivor. Samuel L. Jackson plays a man whose bones are very brittle and have been broken over 54 times. The story revolves around finding out what you were put on Earth for, what is you place in the world and how can you life really be fulfilled to its potential.

There are some very intense scenes that Shyamalan peppers with some lightness so you make it through the scene. He really has a handle on directing and in two major movies has set his style apart. This is a hard film to write a review for because I don't want to give anything away. So I will just say that it is definitely worth the price of admission. And go in with an open mind, sit back and enjoy.
