"Vertical Limit " A Little Hokey, But a Good Bang for your Buck.

By Ted Pfeifer

If you have seen the trailer for "Vertical Limit" than you know that you are in for an intense thrill ride of a movie that you are more likely to see in the summer movie season.

Chris O'Donnell stars as a National Geographic photographer who also happens to be a skilled mountain climber. His sister played by Robin Tunney is also a climber but she is not just skilled she is the worlds number one woman mountain climber. Tunney is bought by Bill Paxton to lead his crew up the K2, the worlds highest mountain.

Nicolas Lea also is along for the climb. Alas, when you climb the highest mountain you also incur the highest levels of danger. With bad weather and an avalanche Paxton, Tunney and Lea are the only survivors and are now stuck in the middle of the mountain as they fell into an opening which was then covered up by the avalanche. O'Donnell must get a band of misfits together to do a speed ascent of the mountain and rescue the wounded climbers. Scott Glenn plays a mysterious mountain climber who is the only man with the know how to get O'Donnell and his crew up the mountain within a mere 20 some odd hours.

There are spectacular effects and scenes that are intense and nerve racking. But none top the opening sequence in the mountains of Utah. This movie is definitely worth seeing in the theater and although the script seems a little hokey at times it still gives you a bang for your buck.
